Just Depressing
I get goosebumps when I think about this. It's really bringing me down today.

Pat Tillman, a former defensive back for the Arizona Cardinals, was killed in action while serving for the elite Army Rangers in Afghanistan. Not too many people know about him despite his talents. It's one of the curses of playing for a crappy football team. The incredible thing about him is that he turned down a $3.6 million contract offer to play football in order to serve in the military after 9/11. He refused all media coverage of his basic training, enlistment, and service in the Army. He was not in it for publicity. He just felt passionate about the cause. To me, what he did was the bravest, most patriotic, and selfless thing that I ever heard.

How many people, let alone Americans, would throw away a promising career that was paying them millions of dollars so that they could serve their country? I'm sure there are some people out there that would, but they are the smallest of the small minorities.

Pat Tillman knew what he was doing when he enlisted. He knew very well that he could be killed while in service. However, it meant more to him to serve his country and protect it from further attacks. He should be honored as an example of what can make this country great.

I want to make one thing perfectly clear, I in no way agree with the current administration's policies in fighting terrorists. I just want to express my respect for a man who had everything going for him and pushed it aside so that he could be a part of something he felt strongly about.
