There has been much ado about Johnny Damon's "do" this season and for good reason. HIS HAIR IS INSANE!! But all that aside, Johnny Damon is a genius because of his hair. He has gotten more press for his hair than he ever has for his bat. Baseball purists might think that's a bad thing, but in a marketing driven world, the type of press that Johnny Damon is getting is great for his career regardless of its relationship to baseball. There have been three "Page 2" articles on Johnny Damon's hair. When has that ever happened in professional sports? This is why his hair is a good thing. He is getting the type of press that is only helping him be a bigger name in sports. He's not tied in with Balco or steroids. He did not beat his wife, try to smuggle drugs through an airport metal detector wrapped in tin foil (Damon Stoudamire, what were you thinking??). Nor has he been arrested for DUI, or weapons possession. He just has a lot of hair. And for this, he is getting press. GOOD PRESS! OK, maybe goofy press. But it's the type of press that does not hurt an indivdual.
Nice work Johnny! Now get that OBP up!
